Orient Shipping Group's of Companies origin goes back to 1952 when Elie and Emile Zaroubi established the "Orient Shipping and Trading Co. sarl", which was one of the first Lebanese Shipping companies. In 1960, they established " Orient Contracting Company" that executed several construction projects in Lebanon, Jordan, Abu Dhabi and Qatar. In 1964 the company became the first Lebanese Company to own refrigerated vessels and thereafter bought and operated several other general and dry cargo vessels. In 1971 it introduced the Japanese "K" Line vessels to the Mediterranean and opened offices in Romania, Greece, and Egypt to expand its activities. Orient Shipping Group of Companies is privately owned by Elie Zaroubi Family and have offices in Lebanon, Greece, Romania and Egypt. The Group owns and manages refrigerated vessels, delivers agency services to car carriers, containerized and general cargo vessels. Orient owes a large part of its success to the vast wealth of experience and expertise it had accumulated over the past 50 years.
