About COS The Chamber of Shipping of British Columbia (COS) is a not-for-profit association incorporated under the BC Societies Act and is supported by industry memberships and the services that the secretariat provides to the marine community. COS is comprised of Principal and Associate members and Subscribers from the shipping industry based in Western Canada. Members of the COS Board of Directors are elected annually and assigned to chair the COS standing committees. Principal members are the only members with voting rights. The secretariat of the society is managed by the appointed President and staff members. Our Vision To be the informed voice for the international shipping industry on Canada's Pacific Coast. Our Mandate The Chamber of Shipping represents owners, operators and shipping agencies in developing collaborative solutions to industry issues and in advocating for effective policy and legislation for a sustainable shipping industry on Canada's west coast.
* COS Structure ( 5 Articles ) The Chamber of Shipping is a not-for-profit trade association representing ship owners, operators and agencies conducting business in Western Canada. There are two membership categories and subscribers. The voting membership is comprised of the Principal Members - ship owners, operators and agencies. The Associate members are non-voting and include ports, lawyers, insurers, classification societies, surveyors and other industry service providers.
